Show season may have already begun for most of us, but the air-cooled guys and girls have been patiently waiting for their first UK event… the VolksWorld Show. Every April, Sandown Park racecourse in Esher is taken over for the weekend by the country’s finest air-cooled Volkswagens, which I can assure you, makes for quite a sight. It’s an extremely mixed show – with mint show cars residing indoors, along with crowds of people and traders packed in – busy is an understatement! Outdoors, there’s a chilled vibe with various club stands and yet more traders. For us at Slam Sanctuary, this is where most of our sort of cars can be found. From a photographers point of view, VolksWorld is pure pornography – hours could be spent shooting the patina alone and exploring every detail these cars possess. Most of these Volkswagens may look rusty and un-roadworthy, but that’s what I love about this scene… usually they’ve been completely rebuilt underneath – but keeping the original worn out and rough bodies, making every car unique. If you’re into Volkswagens at all, there’s something for everyone at this show. Here’s our highlights…

That sums up our highlights of the show, as per usual, it was near on impossible to shoot most of the vehicles inside, due to the crowds. Hopefully we caught enough cool stuff outdoors for your liking, though. It has been a great weekend catching up with the air-cooled community, hopefully we’ll catch some more events over the season.. know of anything happening? Don’t hesitate to drop us an email and let us know.
